who we are

We are the You Can Foundation, founded by North Carolina natives George Blakeney Jr--a professional basketball player-- and Brandon Richardson -- owner of Executive Image Grooming Lounge.

​Growing up, we were told we could not and would not achieve anything in life, but that did not hold us back. Now, as successful professionals, entrepreneurs and upcoming venture capitalists, we are proud to say that we are defeating the odds, proving people wrong, and showing that anything is truly possible.

With one of us being a professional athlete, it is no surprise that we strongly believe that staying active and living an active, healthy lifestyle is pivotal to the development of children and young adults. Nelson Mandela once said, "Sport has the power to change the world." And it's true. Throughout history, sports have had this power to bring people together. It has changed attitudes and culture, changed hearts, developed character, and taught honesty, inspired confidence, teamwork, and tolerance. And that is why the You Can Foundation aims to use the power of sports to create hope and equip children with principles and skills that they will use for the rest of their lives!
